Can anyone help clarify single choice early action for me/make sure I'm not breaking the rules?

So, I've been accepted to IU (rolling admission). I submitted/will submit UNC Chapel Hill and UVA for early action. I'm planning to submit to Rochester for "Priority Review" - a non binding date between ED and RD where you get full scholarship consideration/they tell you sooner. Could I still do Yale early as well?

If you already submitted to UNC and UVA as "early action" then you can't for Yale because Yale only lets you do their early action and no one else's

That's not true. You can apply to any public's "non binding" admission.

Applying to Other Colleges and Universities

If you are a Single-Choice Early Action applicant to Yale, you may apply to another institution’s early admission program as follows:

You may apply to any college's non-binding rolling admission program.
You may apply to any public institution at any time provided that admission is non-binding.
You may apply to another college’s Early Decision II program, but only if the notification of admission occurs after January 1. If you are admitted through another college’s Early Decision II binding program, you must withdraw your application from Yale.
You may apply to any institution outside of the United States at any time.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I'm good with UVA, IU, and Chapel Hill, since they're public. Rochester is the one I'm not sure about... They're private and have ED, Priority Review, and RD. Priority Review means submitting by December 1 and notification by January 15. It sounds like ED II, but without the binding aspect, so I'm not sure how to treat it. I suppose I could just email Yale Admissions.

Hi guys, I'm not sure whether to apply early to Yale or not. I'm still struggling with some of the essays plus taking the ACT on 27th and SAT sub tests on Nov 3rd so really stressed out right now. Just curious, how long did it take you guys to finish your essays to the point that you wouldn't change a thing? I keep changing mine almost daily.

From start to finish, my common app essay took me a week.

Though I'll make a few small changes occasionally.

After researching a lot and illegally downloading several books about Early Admissions, I've finalized my decision.

I'll SCEA to Yale and see how that goes.

chaquefois:

Lawrence U has an EA program with a Dec. 1 deadline and a Jan. 15 notification date. I have specifically inquired of Yale admissions if application to this program is compatible with their SCEA requirements. I have an email reply indicating that it is. I can't see why the U of Rochester program, with the same published notification date, would be different.

I actually asked them as well. They said any non binding program was a-okay as long as they notified after January 1.
