Chance me Yale Biomedical Engineering

Simply put, I have reasonable achievements with not great test scores.

UW GPA: 4.0
Projected final GPA: 4.95 (currently 4.7 weighted. Projection based on continued straight a's)
Class Rank: 1

Classes taken:
Science: Bio, Chem, AP Bio, AP Chem, APES, AP Physics B, AP Computer science
Math: Honors Geometry, Honors Algebra II, AP Calc AB
Humanities: Spanish 2, 3, and 4, Honors English 9 and 10, AP English 11, NM History, AP World History, US History (online)
Others: PE, Health

This year's classes: AP Physics C, AP Calc BC, AP Statistics, AP Euro, AP English 12, Ceramics, Aide (no more APs to take)

EC:
4 year varsity swimmer, state qualifier and current swim captain
4 year varsity debater, 8x placement, 2 year debate captain
4 year water polo player
3 year model UN (Runner up for best delegate award during junior year)

Work/Volunteering
7 year summer volunteer swim lesson instructor (stopped one summer ago)
Current Intern for University of New Mexico's Neuroscience dep't, chance of getting name on a paper by summer's end

THE PROBLEM (Standardized tests):
2070 combined score SAT I
Still to take ACT, SAT II, and SAT I retake

Why didn't you take Subject tests along with the APs/math you took? Didn't you take the AP exams?

You'd need a SAT >2200, and preferably >2300, but yes your achievements are pretty strong. Best of luck on the SAT retake.

Try SAT again, but people get in with your score also.

I think it's probably the SAT. I also, Yale is never a school to be considered "safe" for, regardless of your credentials, so who knows. Maybe I just wasn't in the group of applications they had gotten to by the time they reached their quota? With an 8% acceptance rate, it's pretty much chance. I guess we'll see what happens when final decisions come out

If it will make you feel better, you might be able to retake the SAT I and send in the new scores. Schools like to see followup because it shows interest.
