Chance me, SCEA

I go to a public school that sends about 10-15 students to top private schools each year.
Last year we had 2-3 Ivy league students.
Math is my strong suit, but I never really got into the competitive side of it. I feel that it sometimes overshadows my other abilities. The essays will let me change that. :P

Your GPA and test scores indicate that you are a qualified applicant.

Beyond that, on one can say what chances you have because so much of the applications process is subjective. Yale will read everything in your file, paying close attention to your teacher recommendations, guidance counselor report and essays -- all items not included in your stats. And those items matter the most!

Listen to Jeffrey Brenzel: https://bigfuture.collegeboard.org/g...he-application

"The most important part of your application — bar none, no question, any college — is your high school transcript. Probably the next most important are your teacher recommendations, particularly if you're applying to any kind of selective college or university."

So, in a very real sense, your fate is your teacher's hands. Best of luck to you!

I don't think having a sibling there is officially a hook, but observation suggests that it may help. How do your stats compare to your sister's?

"Your asian male and you have a 2230. You have a tough shot... "

I don't buy poster #3's logic. Everyone has a tough shot. A 2230 is a great score. Standing out to the file readers -- despte the pool of enormously talented applicants --- that's the challenge. josesuk's implication of anti-Asian bias is, IMHO, baloney. Tell that to the many Asian guys there right now (or me -- Chinese w/SATs about the 30th percentile of entering freshmen).

You may well be rejected -- but it won't be because you're Asian per se.
