ACT or SAT or Both?

I got an SAT score of : 2300 M:780 CR:720 W:800 E:10
ACT: Composite: 35 E:34 M:35 R:36 S:36 E:8

I wanted to make up for the somewhat lower score in SAT CR but I got a lower Essay score. I read that Yale tries to look at you in the best light possible. So will they try to kinda "superscore" across two different tests?

Should I send one and not the other or both?

Thanks!

See: The ACT | Estimated Relationship between ACT Composite Score and SAT CR+M+W Score | ACT

According to this ACT/SAT Concordance table, your 2300 is equivalent to a 35 ACT. So, you could submit either set of scores or both.

Remember, test scores are only one part of the applications process. The most important part of your application package is your high school transcript. Next in importance are your teacher recommendations and guidance counselor report. Next would probably be your essays. After that would be your extracurriculars. Test scores are kind of near the bottom, in terms of importance.

Those scores are really so similar that I would sent them all in, and let admissions sort it out. Showing both won't hurt you. I really don't believe that if yur essay on your ACT was higher that it would make a difference in whetehr or not Yale takes you (what is it - a 20- or 30-minute essay?) ...

You now can show solid test scores. Time to concentrate on the other 80% to 90% of the admissions criteria that are beyond your test scores.

My son had the exact scores as you (except for two points lower in Math) and he also had an 8 on the essay. He is a current sophomore at Yale. I wouldn't worry about it.
