Is this okay to send in as supplementary material?

Hi!

So I was debating if this was something worth sending it to Yale as a supplementary material (URL video) for my early application.

For a volunteer program I did, I was on a TV broadcast interview for about a 12 minute segment and I read one of the poems I wrote for a region-wide contest that I won and also talked for a bit on that TV segment about a teen program I started.

Would that TV interview be something worth attaching as a URL for a supplementary material for my Yale app?

I am already sending in an extra letter of rec from my mentor of the aforementioned volunteer program. Is this overkill for sending in supplementary material? I really do want to send in the video, though, and the rec as well. Ahh.

Thanks guys!

Have your mentor include the URL in his letter.

^^ I'm not sure sending a URL link will work in your favor, as you are just reading the poem you wrote. The award you won should speak for itself. And, you could send the poem itself as supplemental material.

Have you read: Supplementary Materials | Yale College Admissions

Yale specifically asks musicians to NOT send in DVD or VHS's because they do not want to be influenced by the applicant's appearance. It could be the same thing with your TV segment. Remember, sometimes "less" is "more."

send in the poem you wrote. as gibby said, the award speaks for itself. the recommendation should be enough.

Unless it's absolutely fantastic (have someone unbiased review it and determine that), then don't send it. I was considering sending in a theatre supplement, but I'm sure I'm just one in thousands of other girls who has played Dorothy in a high school play or has taught drama to kids or whatever =P
