Hi guys I am a senior this year. I have a 4.0 gpa and a 33 ACT. The weakness with my app is that I have only taken 3 AP classes junior year... Got a 5 on calc AB and a 4 on chem. I didn't take the AP Lit test for some reason. This year, I am in three AP classes. I see everyone taking like 10 AP classes by junior year. How much will this hurt me to schools like Yale Harvard Princeton and WashU...
All selective colleges, including Yale, judge you in the context of your school. If the maximum number of AP's offered at your school is 3 your junior year and 3 your senior year -- you're fine! However, if everyone else at your school (not College Confidential) has taken 10 AP's since freshman year, then your schedule, in comparison, is going to look weak. I doubt that is the case, so you should be chill! BTW: Your teacher recommendations are far more important than your number of AP courses!
I agree with the above advice. It all depends on how many AP classes are offered and what percentage you took. My son, a current sophomore only took 5 AP classes but his school only offered 6.
My school has offered quite a lot of AP classes though. I just hate history so I didn't take those... I'm just worried the college won't accept me cause I haven't taken the most rigorous schedule... Ughhh
I would suggest that you have a conversation with your guidance counselor, as s/he completed the Secondary School Report above and ranked the rigor of your schedule as compared to all other college bound students in your school. See page 2 of the pdf, top upper right hand corner.

My school offers APs in every subject. I should have taken the AP English one this year instead of regular... Damnit. She already sent in the forms and probably put demanding or very demanding. Probably not most demanding.
It depends on your relationship with your guidance counselor and the way you phrase the question. If you ask "I'm just curious, do you happen to remember if you checked the "most demanding" box on my SSR?" She may remember, she may tell you, she may not.
I'm concerned about the same thing, low number of AP courses. I only had two junior year (well maybe they'll count it as three because I we have micro/macro econ as one AP course). And this year, I again have two.
Would they weigh this against me being in 2 varsity sports and being a firefighter?
