Teacher Recs

Should I send them out as apart of my application package or should they send it out. I have all my applications sealed (w. teacher signatures on the back). I'd appreciate the help.

I'm sure MANY of you are applying SCEA so someone should know. It may seem like a dumb question but it probably requires only a quick explanation.

It doesn't say on the Yale website and I searched previous threads with no luck.

Please help a brother out.

they should send the recs, unless you already have them. usually you should give them adressed, stamped envelopes, and they can mail them.

i have the recs and my teachers have signed the backs of the sealed envelopes.

i just do not want the teachers to send it out and have it lost in the postal system OR have the admissions office lose something because it was sent in pieces. I was planning on sending the EVERYTHING in one package for convenience sake.

Is it a bad idea to do this. Will Yale question its validity perhaps?

You really don't need to send everything in one package...they don't expect it and give plenty of room for lost postage and stuff (letting you know what's missing, that sort of thing). They give you even MORE wiggle room for stuff they don't expect you to send, including teacher recs and counselor documents, which wouldn't be your fault if they missed the deadline or something.

On the other hand, why would they even know who sent it? Unless you're literally including it in a big package, which I would not do.

I guess they would know from the return address.

Maybe I would write in the return address: the Teachers Name and my school's address.

Enteril, why do you suggest sending everything together?

Colleges must be used to receiving pieces in different combinations since each HS has its own policy. Our HS teachers write recs and give them to the GC (students don't see them). The GC includes the recs with the school report, transcript and student's activity sheet. Everything goes in one envelope with the school's return address.

Some colleges request that everything come together. I think for UMiami's combined med school pgm it's required to have everything come in one envelope from the school.

Well it's not that I don't suggest sending everything together it's just that it's most common for the teacher to send the rec letters themselves.

I have them so I think (signed and sealed) so I will just send them with the rest of my application. As long as it is not discouraged, then I think I am okay.

Thanks for the help.

You know, you could just put the school's address as the return address and they'd never know the difference.

I'm positive Yale's admissions decisions aren't in the least based on the order or timing in which your application arrives... Unless it doesn't arrive at all... Don't stress out (unless you were banking on an acceptance letter due to your sterling postal skills... in which case... sorry!)
