I've seen some applicants state on other threads that their supplemental essay was > 500 words. Were any of you accepted EA? Asking because daughter is at this very moment struggling to cut down a 660 word essay so she can meet the 500 word limit. She assumed it was considered a hard vs soft limit and would be frowned upon to go over.... thoughts?

Mine was about 650 words, and although I'm sure the admissions committee was utterly incensed and slept fitfully at my going 150 words over, I was admitted.
