Which Airports are easy to get to from New Haven?

Which New York area airports are easy to get to from New Haven and how do students to travel to them? Train? Which one?

Airports in New Haven and Hartford are not options.

You can get to all three major NYC airports (Kennedy, LaGuardia, Newark Liberty) by taking the train from New Haven to Grand Central Station. From Grand Central you can pick up a bus to the airport of your choice. The buses depart from the corner of 42nd Street and Park Avenue, right across from the front entrance to Grand Central. They depart every half hour.

two airports that I recommend going to and from New Haven are Bradley International which is just outside Hartford, Ct and TF Green in Providence, RI. The traffic in and out of New York airports is terrible at most times and is quite expensive to get to and from. However, you might be able to get much better fares in and out of New York. LaGuardia is probably the closest and easiest airport to get to when using New York airports. Westchester airport is a newer alternative, but flights tend to be more expensive. Bradley is less than an hour from New Haven with regular bus and limo service and Providence, while about an hour and forty five minutes from New Haven, is very easy to get to and has very little traffic at most times.

Most students use Connecticut Limo (not really a limousine) as a shuttle btn the NY/NJ airports and Hartford. Bradley (Hartford) is the most convenient frankly. I agree that traffic to/fro NY/NJ can be insane. But four hours to Newark -- not worth the time to save $20 IMHO.

I usually fly into LGA and either take CT Limo (ctlimo.com - get Yale student discount) or the M60 bus to the 125th station and take the MTA train from there (cheaper, faster during rush hours).

I might prefer it if I could get direct flights to Bradley though.

How do you get from Bradley to campus?

When do people usually book their flights for the upcoming school year? I know the sooner the better, but it just seems so early for me to plan out when I'll be leaving for school and visiting home. Wow. Crazy to think about.

CT Limo also serves Bradley. Much quicker than NY/NJ obviously.

For your 1st semester, plan when you want to arrive. Will you participate in FOOT? or other pre-term programs? You'll leave for Thnxgiving break after classes on Nov. 21. But lots of people travel up to Cambridge for the Yale-Harvard game. Maybe plan to go home from Boston?

I came from MI and travel back and forth was very easy to plan out.
