I know the school says there's no difference, but does anyone think otherwise? I'm visiting this summer and the day we're going, there are no interview slots available. Is it worth it to rearrange the whole trip to interview on campus or will I be fine just doing it from home?

I got in without an interview altogether. It doesn't matter.

It really doesn't matter if you interview on campus or with an alum. Don't rearrange if it causes any inconvenience.

I disagree with rd31. Interviews are certainly the least important part of an application, but they can make a difference. If you think you'd make a weak or mediocre impression, however, I'd skip the interview. They can certainly hurt you.

I wasn't clear; the "It doesn't matter" was in response to the question, "Interview on campus or with local alum?"

Local alumni interviews are fine; my son got admitted with one. We lived too far away to see Yale before his acceptance.

If you can get to campus you might as well do the interview when you are there just so you don't have to make a trip to meet your local interviewer. but it really doesn't matter. I signed up to do an interview on campus last summer (which was with a senior) andthen still got contacted to do an alumni interview when i sent my application in. so i don't think it really matters which you do
