ACT dilemma

edited October 2008 in Yale University
so i decided last-minute that i wanted to take the ACT (dumb on my part, i know) to try to offset my SAT

but i can only do standby for this weekend because SCEA says they want ACT scores for oct or earlier, but i might not be able to take it (plus it's expensive)

or i'll have to register for dec ACT...the scores of which will not reach yale in time...would they just defer me to see what my scores are? or would they assume that i was just being dumb and lost track of the deadline, and not care that i indicated that i would be taking the ACT in dec?

standby oct or regular dec?
(btw do they still take your $86 if it turns out there's no room for you for testing?)

i don't want to make my entire app RD just for my ACT...

    what's your SAT score?

    i got a 2180: 740 CR 740 M 700 W, 8 essay

i signed up for the dec one saying the date to be taken on the commonapp, will this hurt my chances for SCEA than not putting the "date to be taken" at all?

i just decided i should study more for a high score for my other schools, if yale doesn't take me, and just take it in dec, which is acceptable for RD

but if i'm lucky enough to get deferred, then maybe the dec ACT will help my app a little bit, after the decision

the december SAT won't matter for SCEA.. november SAt is the last SAT they'll take

if you do get deferred, then the december act or sat could help
