everyone's going a little crazy over how she is contemplating applying to yale. i for one am not. although i'm unsure of her qualifications, if she gets into yale, she will be taking the spot of someone with greater academic accomplishments (such as yourself!). yeah, she's been in the harry potter movies, but i haven't heard much about her other than that. therefore, i'm not so quick to share in the excitement. to me, she is just unfair competition. no one like me could compare to someone who's made millions acting in a movie that's become a phenomenon and i definitely wouldn't garner attention for yale like her :/

Yale isn't all about academics, though. It's about people who are outstanding in their fields - academics, arts, athletics, etc.
Emma Watson is excellent in her field - performance. Which is why she will probably get in if she applies! We academic people probably resent that, but it's not just about GPAs and scores.. more about excelling in any chosen endeavor.

Actually cassie, Emma has accomplished A LOT academically. So I wouldn't be so quick to doubt her intelligence or merit. Emma Watson gets straight As at A Level
Also, her ECs are almost unrivaled. The competition for the role Hermione was irrevocably fierce and most high school kid's ECs cannot compete with the time commitment of filming 7 films back-to-back.
Any college would be honored to have a student like that.

Imagine trying to balance all your schoolwork on top of acting.
I'm sure the harry potter movies are veryyy time consuming..she has to memorize lines/film/do press..etc. But yet, she still managed high grades (straight As on A levels are pretty tough from what i've heard).
That takes a lot of time management skills and determination.
And as other people above me have stated...it's not just academics that gets you into Yale..if that was the case..all the kids with like a 4.5GPA 2400SAT and perfect scores would get in. She would definitely contribute something new to Yale with her talent.
Of course..I might be a bit biased. I love Harry Potter haha.

Yeah, that's hardly "unfair competition". That's like saying the people who worked their butts off to become star debaters or winners of international science competitions are also unfair competition to someone who has worse ECs. She's probably worked incredibly hard on those films and obviously has a lot of talent. Her near-perfect grades are just icing on the cake.

Her entering class of 2012? How is that even possible? Plus isn't it well known that she's been accepted at Cambridge, not Yale? I really don't get what the legitimate source is...

| You could argue the same for URM applicants, etc. However, Magi mentions an important point.
Regarding her A-levels, Art is a "blacklisted" subject at Cambridge. If however, she has scored 8 A*s (on reputable subjects), she is definitely qualified for Yale. Quote: |

| No one really knows for sure. There's rumors saying she's attending Homerton to read philosophy, but she's never said anything herself.

2012 is the current freshman class. Is she transferring in? If applying as a freshman, 2012 does not make sense.
