Best of luck dudes!
And congrats to those of you who are receiving excellent news today. Hopefully we'll see you next year at Yale. In the meantime, you can get a better idea about life at Yale by checking out this blog by Yale freshmen: Timothy Dwight We'll see you at Bulldog Days. Congrats!

Deferred. Stats soon. Not upset at all. This means I'm a near lock for Northwestern (which I prefer to Yale anyways)
In the words of Howard Dean, BYAH!
Good luck all!

| Decision: Accepted
[*] Intended Major: Literature Objective:[ list][*] SAT I (breakdown): 2280: 800 CR, 710 M, 770 W[*] ACT: Didn't take.[*] SAT II: Bio e: 750, World History: 780, Literature: 780[*] Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 4.0[*] Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): 1/207[*] AP (place score in parenthesis): US History (5), Spanish Language (5)[*] Senior Year Course Load: AP Calc AB, AP Physics B, AP English Lit, AP Psych, Economics/Government Honors, World Religions/Church History; plus independent study of AP Spanish Lit[*] Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): Um. NMSF?[/list] Subjective:- Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Just the major ones: varsity fencing, environmental volunteering (school recycling manager), Debate Club (founder/co-president), Literary Magazine (editor-in-chief), Art Club (treasurer), NHS, bilingual community production of The Vagina Monologues for charity
- Job/Work Experience: working at my dad's office one summer.
- Volunteer/Community service: assorted environmental/aforementioned vagina-related things.
- Summer Activities: a bit of volunteering+Girls' Leadership Workshop 2007, TASP 2008
- Essays: One was very personal and heartfelt; the other was original but not my best work.
- Teacher Recommendation: One was stunning (i.e., the teacher said that I was the single best student that she had ever met). I have no idea about the other one.
- Counselor Rec: I dunno. He's a nice guy.
- Interview: Didn't have one.
Other- Applied for Financial Aid?: Yes. Though my CSS Profile was a failure and didn't go through, I wrote that I'd be applying for FA.
- State (if domestic applicant): New York (upstate)
- School Type: Catholic, ~900 students.
- Ethnicity: White.
- Gender: ...undecided. [This was the topic of my heartfelt essay.]
- Income Bracket: middle class.
- Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): Does TASP count? I don't think so.
Reflection- Strengths: I have no idea. Just being generally awesome?
- Weaknesses: Just about everything else.
- Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected:
General Comments: Yale wasn't even my first choice... but how am I going to say no? :3

| Decision: Deferred Objective:- SAT I (breakdown): 780M, 730CR, 740W (2250)
- ACT: None
- SAT II: Physics 800, MathII 780, US History 720
- Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 4.0
- Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): 1/504
- AP (place score in parenthesis):Human Geography (4), World History (5), Music Theory (5), US History (4), English Language (5) really proud of this, Physics B (5), Microeconomics (5), Macroeconomics (5), Calculus AB (5)
- IB (place score in parenthesis): N/A
- Senior Year Course Load: AP Psychology, AP Statistics, AP Chemistry, AP European History (aka hell), AP English Literature, Chamber Orchestra
- Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): uh… National Merit commended, do violin competitions count?
Subjective:- Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Violin is my biggie. Youth Orchestra concertmaster during our Carnegie Hall performance, now play principal Viola, lots of random small-ish violin competition awards, played my concerto in China with my school orchestra for this pre-olympic cultural festival. Jazz Band Bass guitarist for 2 years, Mu Alpha Theta (Team Captain), Tri-M (fouder/President)…
- Job/Work Experience: I set up my own business model in junction with a violin shop about three hours away. I basically work as a local contact/sales representative selling and renting violins to students (and even a few professionals) in my area (SO much better than one of those minimum wage jobs!). I also teach violin anywhere from 6 to 8 hours a week.
- Volunteer/Community service: Not much here. Most of my extra time is spent working or practicing… I did spend a few days in New Orleans with Habitat for Humanity though. I think I have something like 130 hours total.
- Summer Activities: Pretty much everything I already put. I’m either at music camp or I’m working, teaching, practicing, or taking online classes. Last summer I got to go to China (so amazing!) and the summer before that was NYC for Carnegie Hall.
- Essays: eh. I didn’t really like the one I ended up submitting since I wrote them so last minute. My big one was about my first student fainting during his first lesson. My supplemental one was about my obsession with hurricanes.
- Teacher Recommendation: one great, the other was pretty generic
- Counselor Rec: awesome. I got it from my assistant principle (who’s son bought a violin from me and is also one of my students. It was glowing =])
- Additional Rec: I sent one in with my music supplement from my Youth Orchestra director. It was alright.
- Interview: Didn’t get one
[b]Other[ /b] - Applied for Financial Aid?: YES
- Intended Major: Physics/Engineering/undecided
- State (if domestic applicant): Florida
- School Type: Large Public
- Ethnicity: White as it gets
- Gender: Male
- Income Bracket: Upper Middle
- Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): Zilch =/
Reflection- Strengths: I feel like I have a demonstrated passion for music with a strong transcript and scores in their range
- Weaknesses: No major awards and next to nothing in the area I listed as my intended major. My essays could have been better…
- Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: see above ^
General Comments: Good Luck!!
