how much weight do you think those questions we answered played in our application?
just curious to hear what other people think.

i can't remember them all; post them if you remember:

what would you change about yourself?
what is something that has made you especially proud?

but anyway, seriously--> do you think they could play any bearing on our decision?
how'd you guys answer?

thanks, just thought i'd start an interesting/fun thread.

To most of those questions I took the spontaneous answer and polished it so it can look rather good, elevated. However, I dunno what it would have been THE BEST way to answer them. Hmm...

    I remember another one:

What would you do on a free afternoon?

Of course I'll continue levelling my character up in WoW.
  • FloatingSaturnFloatingSaturn Posts: 127Registered User Junior Member
Some of them I answered silly-style. Others seriously. Like for What would you like to do on a free afternoon? Read a book.

Ollo23 did you really put that? lol

This is interesting... What did you guys put for Yale Short Takes?

What do you wish you were better at doing?

    Playing tennis.

I put whatever came to mind and then made it look presentable.

I'm not really sure how these would make or break an application, unless you answered "How would you spend a free afternoon?" with something like "Kill some hookers, duh."

I wrote them 3 in the morning...

I put this- I think it's risky, but it will sure pay off.

-What would you do on a free afternoon?
Not much. I watch TV for like 5 hours cause I LOOOOVE the shows! Like all the CSIS, Oprah, Barney, Zack n Cody, and Hannah Montanah.

-Name one thing you are especially proud of.
    My booger collection.

-What qualities do you admire in other people?
Suppression and Manipulation. These are the qualities I admire in leaders. If you admit me, one day the world will tremble in my presence. Admit me and your coffers will overflow with African conflict diamonds, and Dean Fitzsimmons will grovel at your feet!

-What do you wish you were better at doing?
Being compassionate. I rarely am affected by anyone's hardships. Whenever I see third world country donation commercials I secretly laugh inside. Also making friends, I probably have fewer than 5 friends. But I don't think they really like me, and I'm beginning to think my friendly nickname 'freak' is negative...

-What makes you feel physically and mentally renewed other than sleeping?
A good roll in the hay for sure. Anything over 2 hours has a negative effect though. Probably eating 4 tubs of chocolate ice cream too.

Do you guys think this was too much?

    ...

    Did you really put this?
  • ilovepeople712ilovepeople712 Posts: 623Registered User Member
omg. wow, did you really put that?

it's one thing being risky, but unless you were being absolutely truthful, it's another thing making a joke out of the questions....

i'm gonna try and find mine. then i'll post them in here.
  • limetimelimetime Posts: 743Registered User Member
ahahahahah guys, Mal77 is obviously joking...:D

And I liked your response to the last question! LOL

    my answers:

    free afternoon:
I'd organize my quotation collection. It's exceeded 12 pages, and needs serious organization at this point. Not to mention, I like looking back on old quotes.

    proud of:
Gifts for my friends over the holidays. I was sick of store bought gifts so I made ceramic pottery bowls and placed bamboo inside them.

    qualities:
Perseverence and Curiosity. Talent is overrated. I admire when people, despite their circumstances, are committed to improving both their own lives and society.

    better at being or doing:
I wish I was a faster performer on Standardized Tests. I also just wish I appreciated myself more sometimes.

    physically/mentally renewed:
Painting. Most people would expect to hear this from me. I also enjoy using oil pastels. Basically, creating art with any fluid or colorful medium.

I don't think my answers were anything out of the ordinary, but I felt that they were honest. I just did it one sitting.

lol, i seriously believed Mal for a second.

that was funny, not gonna lie.
  • Mal77Mal77 Posts: 870Registered User Member
I try. Sometimes it's just too easy though ;p

    Glad I was convincing.

Oh come on guys... its nothing special. They don't expect you to be a Shakesphere with 25 words.

    Here is two of mine...

    3) What two qualities do you admire most in other people?

Qualities I admire the most in people are 'audacity' and 'self-sacrifice', especially those employed in the service of others.

    4) What do you wish you were better at being or doing?

I really envy those who could express themselves artistically. I wish I was better in the visual arts, especially that of drawing and sculpting.

    See... nothing special.
