Would I have any shot at yale?

College Class Year: 2014
High School: Public (Charter School)
High School Type: rarely sends grads to top schools (most go to local college because of small town attitude)

Academics:

GPA - Unweighted: 4.00
GPA - Weighted: 4.10
Class Rank: top 5 students
Class Size: 30

(I was 1 out of almost 1,000 at my old school, but there were probably another 40 students that were number one because the grades were not weighted at my old school)

Scores:

ACT: 31

Extracurriculars: Cross Country, Varsity Dance Team (Before I moved to a new school)

Leadership positions: National Honors Society Secretary, Student Council, Camp Counselor, Ballet Instructor

Athletic Status - list sport and your level: Varsity Dance Team

Volunteer/Service Work: NHS-
Hospital
Counselor for Summer Camp
Feed My Starving Children
30 Hour Famine
Soup Kitchen
etc...

^^Agreed. You're accomplishments are commendable and obviously reflect academic rigor, but they're nothing special. You need amazing recommendations and essays -- things that, as I understand, EVERYONE needs to get in. I'm not an admissions officer, but I'm thinking AP Student of the Month won't get you in.

School awards are good, but don't count as much as regional/natl recognition.

yeah see since your class size is 30 kids you would need to be number 1 t o have a shot at yale. It will probably be very difficult to get in, but I would say you would need a super amazing essay and and recommendations to have a shot

To answer your question, not likely.

And it's best to leave out the "...of the month" awards. To put it bluntly, they mean nothing to the adcoms.

yeah and ap student of the month award is good nut do you have any ap scholar awards or any national awards in certain subjects
