Has anyones heard about it? Did Yale announce it to the students? Any inputs/comments would greatly appreciate. Police: Yale student, a bride-to-be, disappears - CNN.com

It certainly has made the national news. I had a pit in my stomach when I read the details - purse, cell phone left behind. I am praying for her safe return.

I heard about it and asked my son. He knew nothing about it, so I don't know if they sent emails out (they should) or if he just didn't check his email yet today. Very scary.

desiw, there was an e-mail that went out today from the Chief of Police of the Yale Police Department. And, as mentioned, it was in the YDN.

Here is the text of the email that was sent out today:
"As you know from the information we provided publicly through the media yesterday, the Yale Police, with assistance from the FBI, the CT State Police, and the New Haven Police, are investigating the disappearance of Annie Le, a graduate student who is pursuing a joint PhD/MD degree at Yale. Ms. Le’s last known location was in a Yale research facility at 10 Amistad Street on Tuesday morning.
We have appealed to the general public, as well as to the Yale community, for any information about Ms. Le’s whereabouts and are actively pursuing all leads. Ms. Le’s professors, colleagues, friends, family, and her fiancé are assisting in the investigation. The State Police have searched the area of Ms. Le’s last known appearance with their bloodhounds; law enforcement officers are continuing to undertake detailed searches of the surrounding area; and security officials are reviewing images from closed-circuit cameras in the area.
If you have any information that might assist in the efforts to fine Ms. Le, please call the Yale Police at 203.432.4400 at any time."

Yale should have release the info or make an announcement sooner for helps from the public and someone might have heard or saw something that could help her, my D said it was announced this Wednesday, 9/9, also some students don't have time to pick up a YDN to read it, they just started classes and are too busy for anything else.
IT HITS HOME (YALE), IT'S SCARY!

ALL PARENTS should be very concerned, we can't just dropped our kids off to college and not staying in contacts/communications with them (suitemates, classmates, professors, friends, who are involved in their lives) via cell, email, text, picmail, etc.....

We still don't know the circumstances of this young woman's disappearance and I don't think you need to get overwrought. Yale is in general a safe place to be, particularly for undergrads, if you're sensible about when and where you walk. I'd be more worried about binge drinking and the swine flu than about a potential kidnapping.

Booklady, my first thought was that it was cold feet, too. At least I hope that's all it is. There was a similar story maybe a year ago about a woman who also disappeared right before her wedding -she wasn't from Yale - I don't remember what state she was from, and they found her 2 wks later - she got cold feet before her wedding. We'll keep our fingers crossed for this young woman's safe return.

It is quite troubling that there is apparently evidence that she entered the research facility on Tuesday, but no evidence of a subsequent exit.
The photos of the dumpster search (presumably at the research facility) suggest to me that they are looking for a body. Very sad and very scary.
