Anyone want to read my supplement?

It's about a somewhat "controversial" topic, but I don't think I handled it too offensively. It's 594 words, so I would appreciate advice on anything that could be trimmed down (speaking of that - will going over the limit to that extent hurt my chances?).

I would appreciate a quick response and will read yours if you want me to.

I'll read and give feedback. However, you definitely DO need to cut it down.
I can't promise anything with the cutting down bit (because that ultimately IS upto you), but I can tell you about anything that seems unnecessary.

From the Yale website:

My essay is more than 500 words. Is that OK?
We ask that you respect the word limit we suggest. Will we read the words beyond 500? Yes. But if your essay is much longer than 500 words, understand that you will not help yourself by seeming to have ignored our request.
