A Chance thread from an asian?! I've never seen that before ...

Hi everyone, I applied to Yale SCEA and was wondering how I stack up in the ridiculously strong Yale applicant pool.

Here are my stats:

SAT: 2340 (800 cr, 800 math, 740 writing) (single sitting)
GPA: unweighted- 3.91
weighted - 4.488
top 1% of class
AP: Chem-5, APUSH-5, Calc BC-5, Eng Lang-5
Senior Year course load - 6 ap classes

EC's
Music- I attend the Juilliard Pre-College program as a composer and have won 4 national composing awards (usually for composers under the age of 30) and have had performances of my music in New York, New Jersey, Memphis. I have received a few commissions from groups ranging from Britain to Tennessee. I also play piano and saxophone.

Table Tennis- Member of 2006-2007 national team (u-15). 4 State Championship titles. Consistently ranked top 20 in country and top 2 in state for age group. Sponsored by STIGA from 2006-2008.

Academic Awards- US Chem Olympiad highest honors (top 50 in nation). MERCK Scholar in chemistry (1st place in state). NJ Science League first place team and 4th place individual. Score of 4 on the AIME. 106.5 on AMC12. President of school's music club and vice-president of math team.

Comm Service- Math Tutoring, Library Book Stacking, Piano performances at old peoples homes.

State:NJ
Gender:Male
Race:Asian(Indian)
Essays: Pretty Good, not really sure.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to read this!

ttmaster, you are on the right side of the bell curve of Yale applicants. Your scores are extremely impressive, and your extracurricular activities are blatantly insane. Your chances are very very good. I would say at least 75% chance, if not more.

December 15 will tell all, though, and on that day none of these made-up statistics are going to matter.

I wish you the best of luck, ttmaster.

I'll chance you under the assumption that you've taken them.

Your scores, grades, and ECs are uniformly outstanding. You have about as good of chance as an hooked candidate can hope for.

Thanks a lot silverturtle, and veryprospective. Your comments definitely made me feel a bit less tense about dec 15.

Also I did take sat2's. Since I don't know how to edit my first post I will just write them here.

Math 2-800, Chem-790, US Hist-780

Thanks again!

I'd peg you at around 70-80% chance at Yale.

Your ECs are stunning. As I see it you're definitely a hooked applicant. Let's see how everybody goes on Dec. 15th

You are not a hocked applicant. A hook is much different than an amazing qualification. You lack leadership roles in your community but your other qualifications are without a doubt extremely impressive and unique. You have an extremely competitive shot at acceptance. Good luck!

Wow! You definitely have the stats to get into Yale and your EC's are incredible. I mean normally a person has national awards in just 1 area, but you are nationally known for your compositions, table tennis, and chemistry. You have a really good chance!

If I don't get into Yale, I'll know it's people like you who really deserve it more than I do. Congrats for all your accomplishments; you probably have the best chances anyone can hope for.
