^yay for you?
maybe the Yale people will love it, or they might think it's contrived
you're not an expert, so don't put others down

what is your problem louise? all I said what that saying that "screw yale" was offensive, and i don't think the Yale ppl would like it if they knew u said that

yepp well ppl tend to "contrive" their applications. it's called MAXIMIZING YOUR CHANCES OF GETTING IN!

ok, I'm not trying to get into a fight, but first of all, rocket said 'screw them' as a 'take it or leave it' kind of attitude. she (you're a she, right?) isn't going to make herself seem like she's something she isn't. If Yale likes her, then good. If not, they missed out. I don't know how you can see any offense in that statement unless you're peculiarly dull. Second, I think you can definitely learn from the saying "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" because a number of your comments have been quite rude and unnecessary.

^I believe she meant "screw" whatever colleges did not accept her. I didn't think it was a specific jab at Yale, which is amazing.
And your remarks are drenched in sarcasm. Not that I don't appreciate using sarcasm. But who are you to tell people "wrong attitude" or "are you serious?" to their honest answers? Jussayin'.

Whoaa caps lock. Lol well I think it's lovely we can have such healthy discussions about our perspectives.
I guess I would say I'm a romantic and would rather know that I was accepted to a college purely based on who I really am, not a distorted or aggrandized illusion of who I am.

We didn't say we were perfectly innocent either, but I believe it's justified Louise defended her original post. I'm just introducing my support for her ideas.
And aniram offered a nice summary of what we think :]

Perhaps I wasn't as kind as I could have been, but I also didn't attack what others said. I simply was defending what myself and others said. I even said that the Yale people could easily love your app-which they could. But they also could easily hate it. So, don't act like you have some kind of magical insight the rest of us lack.

Thanks to everyone for the defense I am in fact a she

um i said

first, bike around prospect park. second, go to a play or visit a museum. finally, consume more breakfast food than you thought humanly possible at a diner.

p.s. can we all just relax? i know college confidential is a magnet for really high stress individuals, but it also attracts some really intelligent, highly qualified kids. we'll be fine

Pigs: Yes, I seriously said I would get burritos with old friends. Here's my reasoning:
1) It's what I actually did with my most recent free afternoon (the day before). I mentioned this in my response.
2) In light of the rest of my application, I feel it's more important that I convey that I am not an automaton. If I said something academic or high-cultural, I would seem over the top and therefore insincere.
3) The expression that I maintain meaningful connections in the long term shows that I will take advantage of the the opportunity to interact with my peers at Yale and help make the alumni community more cohesive. It also shows that I value connections from the past, and am therefore more likely to donate money to Yale in the future.

Please take no offense to this, Pigs, because I do appreciate your concern for me, but all of my responses are both well-reasoned and sincere.
