Second guessing my college choice, PLEASE HELP.

Am I the only one having doubts about my college decision? Or wishing that I'd applied to a certain school(s)? I love Bowdoin A LOT but for some reason I'm second guessing my decision. One minute I can't wait for next fall and the next I'm wondering if I made a mistake. Please help.

What you are experiencing is normal after any big life-changing decision! I'm guessing this is probably the biggest decision you have made so far in your life, but you will find in the future that there will always be this little voice in your head that says,"well, maybe if I had chosen X instead of Y. . ." The best thing to do is to simply recognize this doubt for what it is: a normal reaction. Nobody can tell the future, so we all have little seeds of doubt. But moving forward with a positive attitude, and getting involved in any way possible both before and after arriving at Bowdoin, will ease some of your anxiety. Also know that there are only a few big decisions in life that can't be undone, and this isn't one of them. The retention rate at Bowdoin is 96%, so chances are you will be quite happy with your decision!

My nephew loved Bowdoin. I'm sure you chose it for very good reasons. I'd trust that your decision was right for you. I think some people spend their lives second guessing everything they do, but it doesn't seem very productive or fun. Go give it a try. If you find it's not for you, then you can transfer. But it may be just what you want. Good luck.

OP, this is normal. Some people do it more than other but it is completely understandable. Maybe this will help. You have chosen the next STEP of your life, it is not your last. You can change later if it really doesn't work out...though all signs indicate that it WILL. I am sure that you did a lot of research and a lot of soul searching already. You have an amzing opportunity at your fingertips. Don't look back. Dive in. You can do it.

What I told myself after I decided was "I will never know if I made the best choice, but I am confident that I made a good one". After getting off a waitlist, I had to tell myself the same thing all over again.
