lmao, G4C, you make us sound desperate for human contact.

I can host people for the 23-24th and 16-17th.

I could take another for 9-10 if anyone has the overwhelming desire to see me ;) lmao

But if yall do want to stay with anyone from the forums, I'd suggest PMing.

Dude! I loved Orientation. It made me want to come here more. And my parents came, too. It was their first time out here, and they loved it. My dad bought like, 500 dollars worth of Academy gear and still makes me ship more. I bought him a couple of shirts for when I go home during Spring Break. I loved it. Great experience.

I'll totally be willing to host someone (I'm a girl) so just send me a message if ya want and I'll give you my email.

the best thing about orientation is getting honest feedback from the current (but recognized!) 4 digs. just make sure you ask about live BEFORE recognition. its nothing like what you'll see. it is a good time though. i still talk to the guy i stayed with last year

Another loose question for those of you that have attended Orientation before. It recomends a sleeping bag - if you are flying in and want to try and keep your baggage simple enough for carryon, do you (a) skip the sleeping bag and go without one (do they sleep on the floor or cots) or (b) get there early enough to buy a cheapie at the local WalMart, etc. (is there one nearby?)?

Also, I see / understand the need for buying the Boots early on so as to break them in, but if your s/d has not comitted yet to AF can you get sized for the boots and later on order them (like May 1st when the decision is made final)?

    1) you probably should get the bag but there is a wallmart very close by on academy drive if you really want to buy one; 2) we folded one up very tight and easily fitted it in the carryon; they are bettermade today! 3)you can get the boots from (in your case) Maguire air force base and they have the serial number posted on the website under appointee information. call the base first to make sure they have them.

I can almost guarantee that cadets can come up with a sleeping bag/blankets in an emergency. (You would probably be more comfortable in your own)

Yes, they have cots for everybody, but they are almost as stiff as the floor...if you are as light as me anyway.
