Should I just quit?

I knew from 10th grade that I would NEVER make it into here due to my a little bit above average gpa (USAFA says i have a 3.45 gpa), and i have atrocious SAT scores (M - 600, W - 550, CR - 530)

The AFA sent me a letter a couple days ago stating that my CR was too low (what a BIIIIIG surprise it was for me................not.....). I have to still submit my essays, activity reports, and the CFA, but now that I'm thinking, should I even try my hardest on the essay or not? Because, I already know and knew that I'm not going to get in.

What's even more depressing to me is that I had to deny an early decision to an AFROTC university since my father "convinced" me what would happen if I got into the academy...

...what he forgot was what would happen if I DIDN'T make it into the academy......

Remember that you have more than one chance to apply to USAFA, you can always go somewhere for a year and work hard, then reapply. Also, I would try, because you are actually not that far off and there is a chance you may end up with a falcon foundations scholarship or a prep school spot somewhere.

You say that you knew from 10th grade that you would NEVER make it into USAFA. Yet you applied anyway.

Somewhere you must have felt that there was a chance. So why quit now. If it is what "YOU" want and not something you are doing for your parents or another reason, then don't quit until you reach your goal.

As they great Jimmy V would say. "Don't give up, don't ever give up"

if that's your attitude, yes, just quit.

if you think it can still be done and dont wanna give up, then by all means dont. most people i know dont like quitters, you should at least finish what you started. but if it would be detrimental to getting accepted to another school, then go for it

Go to Community Col for a year, go to local state u, get your grades up, retake the SATs, take a SAT prep course, get a tutor, work on the CFA EVERYDAY. If you want it, you can't be a defeatist.

You can't grab the brass ring by sitting in a corner moping.

How bad do you want it?????? Only you can decide that.

    In most cases,
The man who says he can't and the man who says he can are both correct.

Most men quit when they begin to tire. Good men quit when they think they can go no more. But the best men know that the mind tires before the body, and they push themselves further and further, beyond all limitations.

In summary, no, you shouldn't quit. If you really want it, you can get it. There are prep schools if you don't get in the first time, and you can keep applying until you are too old. Go for the dream if you really want it!

    yes, quit.

you shouldn't let other people convince you. what other people say should have ZERO influence on whether or not you try to get in or not. not me, someone else on this forum, or your dad

Having read only the title of this thread, I can tell you that it really doesn't matter to us. If you stick with it, then you're on the right track. If you quit, then we'll never see you.

+1 for Eagle, Raimius, and HNeedle.

Petko, you are right. In the immortal words of the fencersfather:

Quit whining. Either do it or don't.

Just stay positive....literally anything can happen. Maybe take the ACT and see where that takes you. Thats what I'm banking on even though my SAT's are mediocre(600 CR 620 M). Just write a great essay and do your best. You'll never know if you don't try.
