The majority of decisions are released at the end of the month so don't freak out.

The "early" letters are for a small group who need to arrange transportation (via Amherst) to accepted student weekend.

That makes sense, we are on the West Coast.

I don't think that's true. I'm an international applicant and haven't received a letter. I think the early acceptances are to serve the same purpose as likelies: make the college seem like a more attractive option for the students who get them so they are more likely to enroll.

I was just admitted as well, and was pretty confused until I actually read through the whole acceptance letter beyond just the "congratulations" bit.
This purpose is apparently to bring a very diverse group of students for a weekend, socioeconomically, ethnically, and otherwise to encourage them to attend.

I was wondering if someone could chance me for RD 2022 at Amherst? I'm an international student (India) and applied for FA, so I've been getting worried about my chances of getting in anywhere.
    Here's the stats:
    SAT I: 1530 (770 M, 760 R&W)
    ACT: Not taken
    SAT II: 790 Biology M, 740 Math Level 1
Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): Indian school, so no GPA
    Weighted GPA: -
Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): School doesn't rank, but I'm definitely top 3.

    # of AP classes or Full or Partial IB: I completed the full IB Diploma Program in the November 2017 session with 43/45 points. My subjects were Bio HL (7), Phy HL (6), Psych HL (6), English Literature SL (7), French Ab Inito (7), Math SL (7). Extended Essay (A), TOK (B)

Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): Nothing too major:
    1. International Award for Young People - Bronze, Silver and Gold Standards
    2. Amartya Sen Academic Excellence Award - Awarded to one person each year in school, got it for all 4 years.
    3. National Standards Examination - Junior Science - Top 5 in centre

Active member of local Interact Club, participated in activities like Kite distribution, free eye check-ups for underprivileged children, etc.

I wonder if the students admitted earlier at the most qualified among the applicant pool. I haven't heard back yet.

Anyone hearing anything on when all RD notifications will go out? The website says on or around April 1, but can that be accurate? It seems Williams has now officially announced that it's decisions will be announced on March 15.

Anyone know a possible RD release date?
  • Spatula2Spatula2 Registered User Posts: 13 New Member
Last year they sent us an email 2 days before the decision day (Fri., 3/24/17), on Wednesday. I think their pattern is to release on the 4th Friday in March, which this year is March 23.

    Accepted Early!
  • coolstudent22coolstudent22 Registered User Posts: 22 Junior Member
@Pelincton what do you mean early?
  • PelinctonPelincton Registered User Posts: 20 Junior Member
@coolstudent22 I'm pretty late on this, but I received a letter indicating my acceptance into the class of 2022 around last week. They said they were informing me early because of strong academic record and such.

My D18 got accepted at Williams, Pomona, Wellesley, Grinnell. She is waiting to hear from Amherst. Then she will make her final decision which college she will attend to. It seems Amherst is sending acceptance notifications slowly to few at a time since early March. They follow a different method of notification from other schools. My D18 hasn't received any yet. Just curious any particular date they notified to rest?
