Purple Envelopes?

I've been in contact with an assistant Amherst football coach, and he recently sent me some special purple envelopes for me to use when I send in my app. Anyone know how significant these envelopes are? Statwise, I'm definitely qualified for Amherst... so does this mean my essays are no longer so important?

Your application as a whole is important. The purple envelope may just be a way of flagging your application to get it to committee. As Amherst reserves approx. 65 spots for recruited athletes, they still have to do the work. Complete the entire application (essays and all), don't do anything to know your self out of the box
