AP World without class?

My school doesn't offer AP World History, but I really would like to get the credit. I'm taking the honors class and watching John Green's crash course. I have a family friend who teacher AP World at a school outside my county and she lent me a textbook but it's really big and intimidating (i think it's like 600 pages?!) Any tips? Any good review books? Is this even feasible for such a hands-on and writing-based class (from what I've heard)?

well my ap world teacher literally didn't teach us anything, and it was more like an honors world history class, but I ended up with a 5, so It is definitely possible. All I did was get Barrons and study it literally 24/7 starting from 2 weeks before the test. DO NOT READ THE TEXTBOOK! It gives way too detailed information while AP World is more about broad, generalized, knowledge. For the essays, just look at the rubric for each essay on collegeboard.com, and do the practice essays. Definetly watch the John Green's crash course, but don't rely on it because it is not enough. Here is how it works.

    John Green + Barrons + collegeboard essays = 5.
