How well do I have to do in High school Biology 1 for AP Bio and AP Chem?

Hello everyone! hope everything is going well for all of you. I'm curious, do I have to do exceptionally in regular high school biology 1 for AP Bio and AP chem(like an A)? I understand that Biology 1 doesn't really prepare you for both AP Bio and AP chem. So I was thinking on enrolling on Honors Biology and Honors Chemistry online, and take those classes concurrently with the classes that I am taking in high school <--- Could that possibly be a good idea? Help.

It really depends on your school's policy in admitting students into those AP classes. Check with your guidance counselor, or if your school releases lists of classes and their prerequisites, check those out as well. It really varies by school, but at mine, you must have an A or B in Biology and Chemistry (but doesn't have to be honors).

That's pretty standard. The other common variation is a B or higher in honors or an A in non-honors. Regardless of grade, one should have a solid foundation in Bio 1 to do well in AP Bio/ AP Chem, particularly if the rest of the class has Bio 1 down pat. The instructor will not slow down the pace of an AP class to do remedial work.

I'd expect you'd need an A in "regular" Bio and chemistry in order to do well at AP level in these subjects.

It depends on the student and on the school. In my school a lot of people take AP Bio freshman year, and AP Chem sophomore year with no previous experience. I have an A in AP Bio right now and I have never taken a chemistry or biology course before. Go to the AP Bio/Chem teacher at your school and ask them what they think students need to be successful in their class.
