sphoenixee - maybe vin WAS doing research by posting here (what a concept!). Granted, it would have been better if he had searched past threads before making his own, but I think it's uncommon enough that it was valid to post. If you couldn't answer without being snarky, why answer at all?
I have also heard of SAT II scores being used for placement (but not necessarily credit). Specifically, Math Level II & language tests.
In addition, at EVERY college I applied to and looked at comprehensively to decide if I wanted to apply, they did offer credit for AP scores. Some had small caps on the amount of credit they would give (like Wesleyan), others had large caps (like University of Miami), and others had no cap at all (like Case Western).
For someone who claims this is "college basics 101", you sure seem to have a lot of wrong information.
