Already History is being a pain in the ass to me in the form of my summer assignment. I've ordered REA so maybe it will help me because our text book sucks (The American Nation). Half the questions on it aren't in our reading. I'm not trying to illicit cheating lol, but I have a few questions if someone could shed light on.
One of the general differences between wealthy leaders of the South and those of the North was that
A) Soutern aristocrats hadgained their wealth through land speculation and trade
B) Education was generally emphasized more among the wealthy in the North
C) the plantations which the Southern aristocrats lived on were decorated with many expensive objects from England
D) Leaders of the north were more active in politics
E) Southern leaders had inherited their wealth
I'm leaning towards B and C. As for B, the book never makes a comparison like that, but it kind of makes sense. They mention C, but I doubt thats a difference, i'm sure the north had objects from england too.
What is true of the legacy of the Maryland Tolertion Act?
a) The Act of Toleration continued to make Maryland a haven for Catholics up until the time when the Bill of Rights was passed.
b) The act of toleration was repealed by angry protestants and Maryland soon had the most vigilant religious laws of any colony
c) The act of toleration was repealed by angry Protestants but Maryland retained greater tolerance among different protestant sects
d) The act of toleration was supported by the Catholic assembly majority, but was repealed when they lost power
e) The act of toleration provided a blue print for religion toleration laws in neighboring Virginia.
A i know is false, B im not sure what they mean by vigilant religious laws I don't think another law was passed after. C im not sure because in the book it says puritains repealed, but online it says protestants yet some sites say puritains so I'm really confused at that. D basically thats what I'm leaning towards, but I don't know if they held a majority or if it mattered. The book says Lord Baltimore passed it so...
Last question lol (well, i have more, but these are my clueless ones)
As the Eighteenth century passed, later generaions of Germans came to America primarily for which reason?
A) Religious freedom
B) Greater opportunities to accumulate wealh
C) Refuge from warfare and political instability in Germany
D) Pursuit of political authority
E) right to cultivate their own farmland
The question is too vague IMO. By as the 18th century passed, i'm not sure if they mean the primary reason is in that century or if its in the 19th. for later generations of germans, I don't know what they mean, like up to the end of 19th century or up till now. C makes sense if it was before 1850 b/c before unification of Germany, that I know. B makes sense too, im sure its true. I hate these "primary" questions because there are always good answers but there is only one main answer.
Please help!!! anyone. as long as you didnt get a 1 on the exam haha. Not sure exactly where this post should go, this forum was my best guess.
