I'm going to regret this but who knows? Maybe I'll make some other hs senior/junior better about their own stats.
Black female senior
UW/W GPA: 3.21/3.63
SAT (CR+M): 1330
Taken 14 AP and DE classes. 3.75 cc gpa. On Dean's List.
Been in several clubs: concert band 4 years, 2 years all-county band, marching band 4 years, jazz band years, peer mediator 4 years, yearbook 2 years, volunteer at rehabilitation clinic past 2 summers, mentor and tutor to elementary/jr high students 3 years. My resume's pretty long.
AP Scholar.

300 community service hours.
National Achievement Semifinalist. That's how I learned about Barrett, in fact.
My school's a gold school according to the US News and World Report.
I applied a few weeks ago. Really good essay and recommendation letter.

    *feel better about their stats.
    recommendation letters

They gave me the "we'll pay for your campus visit" thing too, if that matters.

Oh no a reply! Barrett is somewhat of a new Honors college, which apparently not a lot of people don't know about. I've heard its it's first class facility attracting first class talent and all the merit scholarship folks get placed there. Anyway can you break in? Tough question. You have solid stats, but for Barrett probably just average. I say 50-50%. Apply and GL. ASU is a great campus.

Are you a National Achievement FINALIST as well? If you are, admission to Barrett and the full tuition/fees scholarship is automatic, just like for NMFs. You still have to fill out the Barrett app., but it's sort of a formality. The mail I have for my NMF D from them specifically mentions National Achievement Finalists.

@celeste No, I'm not. X( I spoke to a woman from Barrett and all she said was I'd get a lower scholarship amount.

@sosomenza. Thanks. 50-50 isn't so great, but I was worried I was more below average, if anything. So that's good to hear. They still haven't received everything for me so status is pending.

Oh, too bad. Well good luck. I don't know enough about these things to be chancing you, but I'll keep my fingers Xed for you. Let us know how it turns out.

Your Xed fingers must've helped! I was accepted! X) Too bad I can't attend. X( I was willing to overlook the distance for Barrett, but my scholarship and financial aid is too small to persuade my parents.

Ashley, congrats on the acceptance, but so sorry about the $. Hope you got some packages within your family's parameters among which there are schools at which you will be happy. It's a tough time of year for seniors and families, making these decisions. Good luck to you.
