Application open early?

I was sure that I saw that the ASU application for Fall 2015 opened mid July but I was surprised to find out that it opened on June 15. That's a nice surprise.

That is a nice surprise! Now, to get that child of yours to actually complete it before school starts in the fall, that is the challenge!

The application is incredibly easy and we did it together last night but the challenge will be getting the school counselor to send transcripts. :-/

This seems to be a new thing for many of the rolling-admission state universities this year. Did it say when they will actually start reviewing them? My daughter did hers right away when it opened last year but there wasn't anyone to start reviewing them or even posting the "application received" type of information until mid to late August. If that is still the case this year, there isn't much point in rushing to get the transcript.

I am not sure about the review but he did the application last night and they sent the log in for the id this morning. I was able to see that they had already linked his ACT scores to his application and showed his transcript in the "to do" list. A lot of that is probably automated but it's still nice to get something rolling.

Wow that was fast. You must be right about the automation. I think this means they must go ahead and start an account when they get test scores even if the student hasn't opened an application, probably linked by SSN. I think that it takes a human to link in the transcript though, so getting the transcript in August before the late September/October rush will definitely expedite the process.

I have sent everything in for my application. Now comes the hard part! @gobluemom85‌, are you from MI as well? I look forward to making the move out to AZ one day! Best of luck to your son in this admissions cycle. Have you visited the campus yet? Does anyone know when the application will become "under review"? @STEMFamily‌, how long after your daughters application was under review did she get notification of acceptance? I plan to apply to Barrett as well, does this application open to us after we have been accepted?

@wrongturn88 I lived in MI once upon a time and went to college there but now we live in TX. We haven't visited yet. We are waiting for the NHSP results to be final (around Sept?). Barrett puts together a program then and we will go for that. My son's transcripts were just sent yesterday (snail mail) so his application isn't quite complete. According to the Barrett page, their application opens on Sept 2.

I'm sure you all know this, but to be sure, you need to apply first to ASU and then to Barrett.

wrongturn88: There are a number of us posting here who went to college in Michigan. Personally, I prefer Green to Blue but there seem to be many Michiganders on this site who have children interested in or attending ASU. My son moves to Tempe to start his freshman year at ASU in less than 2 weeks! We are excited for him but will miss him terribly. He did not apply until later in the fall last year but his application was "under review" for about 3 weeks before he received his acceptance and a generous scholarship offer. University of Arizona took about the same amount of time and offered several lovely scholarships as well. Good luck to you!

@wrongturn88 I don't remember all the details of my daughter's application but it seems that the "under review" went pretty fast once she had everything in. I do remember seeing that it seemed to take longer and longer for other people as it got later in the fall. Also, you can start the Barrett application as soon as you have submitted the application and you have received an ASURITE ID and password which I think came in a day or two but note that the Barrett application isn't actually available until September 3rd. You do not have to be accepted at ASU before starting the Barrett application. However, you do have to be accepted by ASU and have ALL the paperwork in (scores, transcript, letters of recommendation, essays, etc) in order for the Barrett application to go to review by one of their pool deadlines. Make sure that you have everything complete before the Priority Action deadline so you will be in the first pool of applicants. (They haven't announced this deadline yet and I don't remember what it was last year.) Common knowledge has it that it is significantly harder to get into Barrett if you are not in the Priority Action pool (unless you are a National Scholar.)

I would assume they will announce the Priority Action deadline pretty soon, but here is the link with all the dates:
