edited August 2006 in Arizona State University
Hi there. I am a rising senior male from a small town in Minnesota. I have always wanted to experience the big university life away from the midwest.
ACT: math 33, reading 32, english 30, sci 27, comp. 31
SAT: 1870, 660-math, 610-verbal, 600-writing
GPA/Class Rank: 3.94/8 out of 130?

My SAT scores are pretty poor, retaking in fall and aiming for around 2000. My school, unfortunately does not weight GPA's so my A-'s came from gym and band. I am on track to graduate with an honors diploma, and I have taken advantage of my schools most rigourous classes (though only 2 AP classes available). I have very good EC's including playing varsity soccer (captain), golf (captain), and basketball, being involved in band then choir, science olypiad, speech team, supporting players, etc. I should be a National Merit Qualifier in the fall and I hold down a job at a prestigous golf course in the summer (40-50 hours a week for college savings). I also have spent time volunteering at the local Ronald McDonald house as well as time spent working church fish fries. What kinds of shot do I have of getting into W.P. Carey School of business, directly from high school? And would I be in the runnings for any type of merit money/scholarships? Any replys would be amazing. Thanks

This is from the Carey web-site. They will re-calculate your gpa to the Arizona Board of Regents GPA 16 competency classes. 4 years eng, 4 years math, 3 years science 2 years Social Studies 2 foreign language and 1 year fine art. So it looks like your stats are pretty good. I would also think you have a good shot at some money.

    Direct Admission
Based on outstanding high school academic achievements, the direct admission program offers highly qualified students unique opportunities for admission into the W. P. Carey School of Business professional program. Students admitted directly to the professional program in one of two ways:

    Carey Direct Admission
Offered to incoming students with the highest academic qualifications, Carey Direct Admission allows students to begin in the professional program from the beginning of their academic careers. Benefits for Carey Direct scholars include access to professional program (upper-division) courses beginning in the first year of study, after completing standard course prerequisites. In order to be admitted at this level a student must meet ALL of the following requirements:

    3.6 ABOR GPA
And 1250 SAT Reasoning or 28 ACT score
And no English or math competency deficiencies
And 3.5 transfer GPA in college course taken prior to high school graduation
    Dean's Select Admission
Offered to incoming students who are very well qualified and demonstrate a high aptitude for success in the professional program, Dean's Select admission exempts students from the competitive professional program application process. Dean’s Select students are automatically accepted to the professional program in their junior year, contingent upon successful completion of required coursework with a minimum 3.5 (cumulative) ASU GPA and skill course GPA. In order to be awarded Dean's Select admission status, incoming students must meet the following criteria:

3.5 ABOR GPA or top 25% of high school class
And 1200 SAT reasoning or 25 ACT score
And no English or math competency deficiencies
And 3.0 transfer GPA in college courses taken prior to high school graduation
