ASU/Barretts - International Student - Urgent Help

Dear CC members ,

I am Indian . I intend to come to the US for higher education . I dream of studying at universities such as Stanford/UC-Berkley/UCLA for my undergrad but my grades and my especially my SAT score are not sufficient to get into these universities. My list now includes ASU (and Barrett's) which is a decent university for engineering . I want to know more about the university and especially about Barrett's. What are the facilities they provide to engineering students , how is the quality of education ? , how are the internships ?. What kind of a job I would get if I graduate from ASU ? and what kind of graduate admissions am i looking at ? (can I get into Stanford at least for my Graduate degree) , Finally , What will I be missing out on ?

I wanted to know my chances at ASU and Barret's and what else I would require in order to gain admission into both as an international freshman.

I know it is advised not to enter a college with a mind of transferring to other universities but I want to like ASU and make the most of it . I will try to transfer to my dream schools though.

It would be helpful of you people to suggest universities for me.

Intended School :-

Arizona State University and Barrett's - Honors college

Intended Major :-

Mechanical Engineering/Electrical Engineering

Curriculum - CBSE (Indian , But the grades have been converted to the US GPA system by Josef Silny associates)

My Stats :-

Grade 9-11 - GPA 3.7
Expected grade 12 GPA - 4.00

SAT - 1060 (Math + CR)

Extracurricular activities :-

Social Chair - Grade 12, Prefect Grade 11 , Did 50 hrs community service , computer club , vice captain badminton team , a few debate competitions , Model United nations , a disciplined and well behaved student .

While your GPA is good, your SAT score is far too low. You are something like 300 points below the average Barrett student, and you are international to boot. Unless you retake the SAT and do much better, I think your chances of Barrett are low. Your chances at ASU are better, but even then as an international student you aren't promised a spot with a below average SAT score.

ASU has a great engineering program with very large research opportunities in Phoenix. Internships are also abundant, as ASU is the only university in Phoenix. What jobs you can attain and what graduate programs you can get into are dependant far more on your quality. I have plenty of friends at Stanford, Harvard, UCLA, etc for graduate training. I have friends working on wall street and such as well. ASU won't hold you back if you have the quality and drive to succeed.
