Barret Honors

Ok so here is my situation. I have already been admitted to ASU and now I am applying for Barrett. I believe that my stats are strong- EC's, my teacher recs., my essay, GPA, rank, rigor of high school course load. EVERYTHING but my SAT score :(
I mean it is not horrible I guess but it is below the average of the students who get in (1307/1600). I looked on the website and they said that the averages are just averages and that they have accepted people below the averages. I was just wondering how much emphasis they put on the SAT score? And if it is a bit low, do they look at the other parts of the application more? MY GPA 3.8 and I am ranked 15th out of 441 (top 3%) and I am in-state resident. And my two teacher recs. are from my AP Eng. teacher and my H. American history teacher.
and I don't know if this will help but I am also a Hispanic female. My EC's include volunteering at Arizona Humane Society, President of the Spanish Club at our school, Gifted and Talented Students Club, NHS, NSHSS, People to People Student Ambassadors Alumnus and National Youth Leadership Forum on Law in D.C student alumnus. Those are the major things but yea..

so what do you all think? I hate my SAT score it is rather embarrassing but I am hoping that everything else will "balance" it out.

You sound like a pretty good fit, and since you're an in-state student I don't think that your SAT scores are going to be a problem.

The rec. letters are very important, so if those are good, and you've got strong grades and ECs, then I think you're the kind of student they'd love to have.

I received an 1880 on my overall SAT and was recently admitted to Barrett. May I ask what you received? As far as I know, they are race-blind when accepting applications, so your ethnicity will neither benefit you nor be an issue. Your GPA is impressive, and the teacher recommendations are critical, so hopefully that will also bolster your chances. Best of luck! Let me know how it goes = ) I think you have a good shot!
