Interesting subject. Son is a lacrosse recruit, good solid student, horrible test taker. We have hired a tutor that he feels he is making good progress with. My son is adamant about taking the ACT. It is important to understand the bands and indexes and where your son might fall. We were told that my son who is a solid 3.5 gpa student at a very rigorous private school is looked at differently than his counterpart at a local public school with the same or even higher gpa. Those things also get taken into consideration.
His best friends brother plays at Dartmouth, was recruited with a 25 ACT. There are no real "lines" (relatively speaking) with the scores from what we are hearing. Obviously his friend was top recruit, they say the better and more sought after you are, the more flexibility there is with regard to the scores (within reason). We are learning as we go, there is a long way to go and this is a really nerve wrecking journey!
