Minnesota athlete

My child is a recruited athlete at Minnesota. GPA is a 3.5 with mostly honors / AP / and CIS classes. Class rank is 30% and ACT was a 30. Wants to get a direct admit into Carlson School. Any other athletes out there that got in?

No direct experience, but I know Carlson, and it's a tough school to get in to, though your athlete sounds like a decent candidate. In general, the athletic recruitment process can help with admissions to the school, but I have yet to see it help a student get into a particular program. Another possibility: My kid was recruited at Cornell, and the scoop there was for athletes to do well academically their first year and transfer in to Dyson second year. I'm not sure what the sophomore, in-house transfer rate is at the U, but it might be worth exploring.
