Submitted ED1, Coach knows and now what?

My son just got his email from his ED1 school saying that they are processing his App. We are just waiting for a couple of things to be sent from his counselor. Is it inappropriate for him to contact the coach asking how is App looks (instead of asking "am I in?".
My son is itching to contact the coach. Will the coach know by now if all is good?

I doubt the coach will know (assume there is an ED1 schedule which admissions will follow), but there is no problem with son sending an email to coach saying he's filed ED. Many students have contact with a coach (or asst) during senior year. The coaches also realize that nothing is a done deal until school starts the following year and want to keep the student on board and excited about the team.

My daughter's coach was new to state and didn't have a team playing when daughter was a senior in high school, so coach would sometimes go see the recruits play in high school games. Coach was getting to see her recruits and get a look at the sophomores and juniors coming up. Other recruits would let the coach know what was happening in fall ball or during the season.
