Transfer Recruitment

Currently, I am at a school where my sport is not offered at all. I was wondering if I could get recruited for my sport at other colleges. I am considered the third best sailor at my lake with many awards, however, I have not sailed elsewhere. What are colleges looking for in recruits? Am I a competitive recruit? Should I try to sail elsewhere this summer? Would I just contact the coach at where I want to transfer to? Do I need a release?

Sorry for so many questions. Thanks!

You do not need a release if you have never participated in the sport at your current school. Just contact the coaches at the school(s) you are interested in.
