BW allows HS Juniors to sit in on classes, take tours, etc. I am curious how they handle WL. Please update us after you call. I'm also sending you a PM.

Has anyone gotten off WL yet? Has anyone been released from WL yet?

Just out of curiosity, anyone know how a student who was redirected to BA Theatre major at BW after an MT audition would fare with the rest of the conservatory if they were to audition for shows? Obviously this would, in my opinion, not really be a good place for the student, namely my D, who would not want to be at a dream school and not in a dream program, but I was wondering if anyone had inside info as to how the conservatory works with non-conservatory students who audition? Do they ever get in and if they do, would they be welcomed? Not the sort of questions I would have thought to ask at the audition. Thanks anyone.... ;)

@missnypizza My S is just a freshman. I know other conservatory students were in the musical this year, but I'm not sure outside of conservatory. @kategrizz or @artskids will have to elaborate.

In general, if she has MT acceptances, she should consider what she would lose or gain by choosing BA Theatre. Out of curiosity, was she accepted to BFA Acting or BA Theatre?

@missnypizza BW has open auditions. In most (but not all) musicals, there are at least one or two non MT's cast. I've known a vocal performance major, a theater major and a composition major to be cast in the time that my D has been attending. Students are welcoming of all who are cast. That being said, I think it would be extraordinarily difficult to be at your dream school, but not in your dream program. My D had a great friend freshman year that came as a BA hoping to reaudition and be admitted... she now attends another well regarded BFA MT program. I also know a student who came as a VP major, who also transferred to a BFA MT when she was not admitted upon reaudition. I only know of one student currently in the program that auditioned successfully for the program after spending a year at BW... so the odds seem quite long from where I sit.

@IfYouOnlyKnew @kategrizz Thanks so much your insight! I agree it would be hard to attend a school that's and not in your dream program. She was admitted for BA theatre.

@MomofMTBoy I was actually released from my BW waitlist position (as in I did not receive a spot in the program) about a week or two ago.
