Would adding in some of my writing samples with my applications hurt my admissions? Also, I'm getting an alumni referral, do you think that would sway the commitee? By the way, I want to be an english major.

Barnard's application instructions say that you can send in supplemental material, so it definitely would not hurt to send in writing samples. I myself am sending in a CD of my singing.
