Recent Barnard Acceptance Rates

Has anyone gotten into Barnard in the past 2 years who doesn't have amazing stats? I feel like people keep saying "Oh yeah I got in with a 3.6 or 3.7unweighted GPA don't worry" but they're referencing an admissions experience from 2008 or 2010. Is it true that everyone who got admitted this year had a 3.9 or 4.0 GPA or similar?

I got in with a 3.78 UW GPA and 28 ACT/1290 SAT-- def not the best stats. Barnard doesn't weigh them heavily, so I wouldn't worry too much if you have a 3.6/3.7 GPA, just make up for it in extracurriculars, having an interview, and most importantly, wonderful essays/supplements!

Have you heard of anyone getting in with a 3.5 or a 3.6? Or lower? I have about a 3.6 but pretty good SAT scores and a very challenging schedule? I also have an extensive list of extracurriculars but they're all kind of unconventional? I keep trying to deny the fact that I've fallen in love with Barnard because I don't feel like they'll accept me.

You can't get in if you don't apply.

Rather than worrying about your chances I'd suggest that you submit an application and focus on your strengths-- an extensive and unconventional set of EC's might attract notice of the ad com.

Of course you are right to see Barnard as a reach --- but that's the whole point of applying to reach colleges--- you know going in that the odds are against you. No one can tell you whether your GPA would be a problem without knowing more about the grading practices of your high school, overall academic rigor of your schedule, and the pattern of your grades overall.

I'm class of 2020 and my stats are far from perfect. However my essays were pretty great. I STRONGLY think that's what's most important to Barnard.
