Of course you should apply if Barnard seems to be where you would like to be! From what you have told us, given an application that is cohesive and which highlights why you would be a fit for Barnard and vice versa, I think you would have an excellent chance to be admitted.

Just my opinion, however, and it's not worth much...I am a mom of a rising senior at Barnard, not an admissions expert. Best to you, though! You seem to have great qualifications! What sort of things are you interested in pursuing at this point?

thanks! i just know that barnard is really competitive and i'm a bit wary of my gpa and class rank...

i wouldn't worry. like many competitive liberal arts schools, grades and gpas and rank aren't necessarily the tell all of the admission decision at barnard. i had particularly "low" stats for barnard (3.9w gpa, 2000 cumulative sat, 29 act) but i had stellar recs and an interesting essay, and i got in of course (and i'm doing fine grade wise).

whatever you find most important in your high school career, make them think it is the most important factor in their decision.
