Demand for Mid Year Grades

payasugopayasugo Registered User Posts: 72 Junior Member
I got an email yesterday demanding my mid year grades by the 14th or else they will assume I don't want to attend. Do they understand that I cannot post my own mid year grades? That mid terms where just a week ago and that things don't move quickly in the guidance department?

It's like they enjoy stressing me out!

Reach out to your guidance counselor at school and see if they can meet the date. In the meantime reply to the email and copy in your local rap for Bentley and explain that you have requested the mid years from your school and are waiting for them. Express your continued interest in Bentley.

    I did that thanks.

Are they asking for your first semester grades through December? That is what is usually required. Or does you school have an odd schedule?

I don't know it says senior year interim grades were missing. First term grades closed back in October and then mid terms are in January like most high schools. Is that normal? The application deadline was January 7th which is almost a month before my progress report comes out. No other school I applied to has been this aggressive. It makes me wonder how they handle other issues.

Did you send in the first term grades from October?

My guidance counselor told me to wait until second term closed. Again, I
have no control over this. I think they emailed him as well. I suppose I could have printed out my progress report and mailed it but I doubt that's what they wanted.

So if they have no senior year grades (I think that is what you are saying), I can understand why they are telling you they need them. They can't decide on your app without grades from Senior year. I originally assumed the school had sent the October (fall) grades and now they were asking for a mid-year update. Perhaps your guidance counselor dropped the ball on the fall grades. I would stay on top of your GC.

Email your admissions rep. Explain that your guidance counselor insists on waiting until (give timeframe). Scan and send your most recent report card and say you hope that it will provide them with serve as updated data until the report is issued from the guidance office. Confirm that your remain very interested in Bentley.

I don't know what guidance sends the schools, does anyone? This process is stressful enough as it is! I doubt I am the only person this happened to. Does anyone else have their mid term report posted? I mean if they do, it was done very recently. I spoke to my guidance counselor on Friday and he assured me that it would be done this week. I mean it's almost like they do this on purpose to weed people out.... I am probably not going to get accepted anyways.

Did you read my post? They are not trying to weed you out, they are trying to make decisions. They have to send out acceptances in about 3 weeks. Yes, most high schools have sent a mid year report by now. Did your high school send your first term grades?

I'm not sure why you are annoyed at the college.

I would do as the poster above said. Send a copy of your report card or transcript and tell them your guidance counselor will send by X date.

Bentley makes it extremely clear that they will not make an admission decision without some senior grades. They will accept 1st term grades if your 2nd term is not completed. I also don't understand why you are mad at the college for something they were very clear about. Your guidance counselor steered you wrong when they suggested you wait.

They were sent. My guidance counselor may have given me bad advice but then again should I expect her to know all the admissions policies of 4,600 colleges in the U.S.?

The GC should know that most colleges will need senior grades before the end of February.
