What exactly is pre-med?

Hi! I'm a little confused on what pre-med is. Is it a major? Is it possible to be a pre-med without being in PLME? Like can someone be a bio or chem major? Thanks. :)

There is no pre-med major at Brown. You major in anything you want, while fulfilling course requirements for med school.

Pre-med isn't a major, though it is at some (not many) schools. It's simply a designation to state that a student is planning on applying to medical school, and will thus be taking the set of courses required as pre-requisites for med school. That's it.

You can concentrate (major) in any subject as a pre-med student.

    PLME is Brown's 8-year BS/MD program.
