Has anyone in Colorado had an interview? My daughter has not been contacted yet. We live in a remote area so that may be an issue?? Is the deadline December 1?

@marinebioslo hey! i'm not from CO but I've heard that being in a rural area may be one of the reasons, and I've heard of interviews happening as late as december 6th. i wouldn't worry about it too much, as brown even says that it is not your fault if you don't get contacted and it won't impact your application in any way.

@sambrown101 i'm assuming it will be Thursday, December 13th since the past two years have been on a Thursday as well. but who knows.. brown has limited it to "mid-december"

Hey I recieved a letter from Brown signed from the admissions directior stating they recieved my application. It included my name multiple times and explained how "numbers arent the only factor" in the admissions process and all factors will be weighed in my personal admisssions process. Did anyone else get this physcial letter? Is it normal for them to sent out these physcial letters to all ED applicants? The letter was actually adressed to my mom but was regarding me. Is this strange? Good thing or bad thing?

That sounds interesting! I have no idea what it means, but the timing makes it seem as if it’s a likely letter. Maybe someone who knows more will reply to your message too hah @eduisthemove

Thanks for the reply. It wasnt a likely letter, it simply stated how they recieved the app but reirriterated how numbers arent everything and everything will be taken into consideration in my application. I recieved the letter 4 days after my vice superintendant sent a letter of reccomendation to the Brown. Im just wondering if any other ED applicants recieved this letter. Anyone?

Is your mom a Brown graduate? My mother-in-law got one of those when my kid applied SCEA to Yale, because she got a graduate degree from Yale. It was a form letter they send to legacy kids' relatives, in an attempt to keep the relative happy (and donating) even if the kid doesn't get in.

@EduIsTheMove I got one of those letters as well - I'm assuming it's because my mother went to Brown, and my guess is that any applicant with a connection like that (or, for instance, an applicant with a parent who works at Brown) will receive one of those letters.

Thanks for all the replies! My mom did, in fact, go to brown as well as my sister who is currently a freshman. My grandfather was also head of the Engineering department in the late 1980s. Just to clarify, its just a formality and neither a good or bad thing? Do any of you think the legacy I have at brown will help my application in any way? My sister is a freshman attending currently, don't know how advantageous that is on top of the other history my family has there. Important to not however, she never did recieve the letter. Any and all responses are sincerely appreciated! Everyone on this site is so helpful you guys r great :)

Hi all! I was just wondering if Brown first quarter grades are optional to send. I emailed my admissions counselor a bit ago, and he hasn’t gotten back to me.

@applying2023 I think it's optional and brown will ask your college counselor for it if they need it, but I might be wrong
