ED applicant here, heard from current students that the meal plan is overpriced ($16 per meal if counted) and the dorms are really old. Just want to confirm this with other students.

My kid loves Brown, but complains bitterly about the meal plan and about its cost. Dorms are more of a mixed bag, but overall not that great.

I’ve also heard that dorms aren’t that nice but tour guide said that “ the dorms are great” when she was asked

The first year dorms have been updated. Keeney Quad, where many freshmen live, is updated and very typical of the dorms at most colleges. The dorms at Brown are on par with those at other Ivy League schools.

My daughter's not at Brown, but I have to say we were shocked to figure out that her meal plan was costing $15 a meal. WTH?? She was required to have it while living in a regular dorm room. She's still in campus housing, but it's a townhouse so they let her go off the plan. I reimburse her for her grocery bills each week, which add up to about the cost of five meals on the meal plan!
