Brown ED chance me please:)

fishbatesfishbates 7 replies1 threads New Member
Hi! I’m currently a junior, who recently fell head over heels for Brown while visiting over the summer. I know the chances are so slim of getting in, but if someone could give me honest feed back I would love it ( don’t hold back!!) Thanks so much, my stats are below

Gpa: unweighted-4.0 weighted-4.89
Class rank: 11/229
Have not taken SAT, but PSAT score is 1330.

Freshman year:
Western Civ
French 2
Honors Geomotry
Honors English
Honors Earth and Space

Sophomore year:
Honors Biology
Honors Chem
Honors Algebra 2
Honors English
Honors French 3
Global studies

Junior Year:
AP Physics 1
AP French
AP Lang
Honors Precalc
Honors Anatomy and Phys

Predicted Senior Year
EMT ( will explain later)
AP Chem
AP Pysch
AP Calc
AP Lit ( may switch to honors English)
AP Bio/ Honors Biotech, depending what is running or if I have room in my schedule for either of these

Part of club that sends people every year to talk to state senators in DC about issues in our state involving drugs ( going this year..... so excited ahhhh I love DC)

Potential internship this summer with hospital

Hospital volunteer

Math Team

Cross country (jv) Indoor and Outdoor track ( varsity)

Soccer outside of school ( used to play Premier in division just under national level, but got too expensive so now play with club team)

Buddying up club

So.... the EMT thing..... my school offers a class that prepares you for the EMT liscense exam, so you can become an EMT out of high school. I want to become a doctor, and think this would be a great way to dip my toes in the medical field.

I plan on taking a couple of the SAT II tests later this year.

I am slightly worried by the fact that my freshman year was not as rigorous as some others I have seen so far on this site. Anyway, thank you so much for getting this far in this ridiculously long post, and thank you for any feedback:)

Oh, I also forgot to mention this ( not like it would make a huge difference) but I am also in NHS, in 10th grade worked to open my schools clothing closet which helps to provide clothes to members of our school in need, and have the seal of biliteracy for French

@fishbates in regards to your test scores, you should see if the act is more receptive than the sat.

I am not in a position to tell you what your chances are, but you definitely want to get a 1400+ at least on the SAT. I mean I'm pretty sure there's not a huge difference between 1500 and 1550, say, but the difference between a 1350 and a 1400 seems significant. If you really want to go to Brown, aim for maybe 1450 or 1500. But please, don't make the mistake of falling in love with Brown. Even for top applicants, any school with an acceptance rate of under 10% can be unpredictable. Apply to lots of schools (including Brown) and learn to love all of the schools. Rejections/deferrals are painful, especially when you fall too deeply in love with a school.

Also, depending on your school, it seems to me (I'm def not an expert though) that your course load is pretty good. I don't see an issue with ECs either. But again, I know virtually nothing sooo

@ Bart Simpson 4 thank you, this is the advice I needed to hear. I can definitely try to get the sat score up. As for the falling in love part, I am fully aware of how competitive it is, and am not getting my hopes up. I would love to go there, and it is my top choice school ( provided REALLY good financial aid), but I do have other schools in mind that I would love to attend as well. But thank you for the tips, I can see it was well thought out, and I do appreciate that:)
