What major should I choose?

I'm planning on applying to business school next year. I don't know which path to take. I want to work globally, preferably somewhere in Asia. I am fluent in English and Mandarin and fairly proficient in Spanish. I am also studying Japanese.

In college I don't know what major I should do. And I don't know if I should double major or minor in a language. Also, should I pursue a more generic major like Business Management or should I go directly into International Business? Any input would be helpful :)

Try doing Econ/finance/business admin or management and a minor or double major in International Business. That would be the best for ur career plans if u wish to work in Asia.

International Business as a major is of limited usefulness. You will have almost the same amount of opportunities in international business if you major in finance (assuming you like finance). Finance also gives you more options outside of the international business realm.

Where are you going for school? I mean if you're interested in finance, I would look at accounting, finance, math, or economics. If you're interested in marketing, then marketing of course. It's all about what you want to do. I think international business is not a good choice.

Well as of right now I think I would probably be going to Urbana Champaign's business school. I haven't applied for any schools yet (I'm still a junior). I think deciding a major would help me pick a school, that's why I asked this question.

Are you a good communicator? You can take double major/minor in marketing & foreign language. If you good at math, you can take accounting/finance. Or you can combine marketing/finance/whatever you like. Don't take international business. If you have the capital to start your own business, you can take entrepreneur major. If LAC is one of choiches, then you can take economics/math.

Keep in mind that you don't have to go to Business School to be successful in business. Choose a major that you like to learn. Don't limit yourself with one particular career.

If you REALLY want to work in Asia, maybe it's better to go to college in Hong Kong or Singapore. University of Hong Kong, NTU, NUS are some of the best universities in the world. And they all have great business school.
