About how long before I plan to apply to a MBA program should I plan on taking the GMAT?

GMAT scores are valid for 5 years. Best to have a solid GMAT score in hand about a year before applying to MBA programs. But 6 months should be a minimum lead time .

You should plan about a year in advance, in case you are unsatisfied with your score and plan to retake the GMAT. And also so you have enough time to focus on your applications without worrying about studying.
