note: i have no idea about anything with frats except that phi psi has awesome parties. but the fact that barbie is in your username tells me your a girl so i will tell you what i know about sororities.

the sororities are super strict about hazing because of some bad events in the past with other frats and a sorority getting charged with hazing and being suspended or even having their charter revoked. so hazing is not something you will have to worry about. Each sorority places emphasis on different things and is a little different, but each one will have fun social events and some community service and probably sisterhood events. the emphasis on each will vary by sorority.
rush is usually during the first week, and you will find which sorority you fit into best at that time if you choose to rush.

i don't know if that is much help, but hopefully someone else can post on here since im looking for some information as well?

also, the npc url is useless but idk if you know to go down to the "chapters" link and look at each sororities separate webpage? it will give you a little more info. and they will also probably have some information about greek life at any of the open house events.

Here is the link to the chapters:

Greek Life - Panhellenic - Chapters - Student Life & Leadership - Cal Poly

My daughter is a sophomore and decided to join a sorority this year. She wasn't interested as a freshman and also she had night classes that intefered with recruitment activities. She had a couple of dorm friends who were in Greek last year, so they encouraged her to get involved as a sophomore. So she and few other girls did just that! Turns out that my daughter just loves it! And, she got into her first choice sorority. Their philanthropy is Campfire USA and they have fundraisers throughout the year. They also have dances and activities with fraternities. I think she was pleasantly surprised at how nice her sisters are. It's a large chapter with over 150 members. A lot of girls went out for recruitment this year, most of them freshmen though. My daughter is also involved in clubs through her major and helps with body assessments one day a week, again through her Kinesiology major. And, she goes to other events on and off campus not sorority-related. So, it's not ALL about Greek life. She has a wonderful balance between her academics and social life, as well as various actitivies like clubs and, of course her sorority. I'm happy for her!
