How Does Cal Poly Look at ACT Scores?

nfishernfisher Registered User Posts: 16 New Member
Do they only look at composite, or is it only math and reading, or all three?

My ACT: Composite 31
M: 35
E: 35
R: 28
S: 25

Does the fact that I did better in math and english help my chances?

I believe they just look at composite but you put it all on the application.

In the information session that we attended while visiting the campus, my son was told to send ALL (SAT and ACT) scores since they "cross superscore". No person actually sees your scores, the system automatically plucks out your highest scores and calculates them to come up with your highest combined score.
    Hope this helps. Good Luck!

Yes - we got the same info on the tour - they do not look at the writing or essays - and they superscore (they said for both SAT and ACT, but then didn't directly answer a follow up on ACT, so it wasn't entirely clear). Those are great Math and English scores - have you considered trying again to get the composite higher? My daughter practiced hard just on the science section (got a practice book from the library and tried different strategies) for a few weeks and got the science score up from a 26 to a 31. You should be able to tell from the practice tests if you are improving.

For the ACT, Cal Poly only counts and will super score English and Math. They create their own comp. score from the highest English and Math scores reported.
